Radiation Oncology Insurance Specialist

Bauer's Intelligent Transportation is seeking a skilled Radiation Oncology Insurance Specialist to play a critical role in ensuring seamless patient care and financial management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify insurance benefits and obtain precertification or predetermination if required
  • Ensure a valid referral is on file for both radiation and medical oncology
  • Communicate with Physician's Medical Assistant to obtain clinical information for precertification and/or predeterminations
  • Document benefits in the insurance maintenance screen of the medical billing system
  • Notify patients of their portion for upcoming appointments
  • Document communication with patients in chart notes of the medical billing system
  • Review the ledger for outstanding balances and notify the collector
  • Maintain department target dates
  • Answer incoming department calls and assist patients with benefit inquiries and quotes
  • Assist the department with schedules in the event of an absence or staff shortage
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Effective communication skills, including verbal, written, and telephone
  • Proficient in mathematical skills
  • Able to multitask, be motivated, and a team player with a positive attitude
  • Experience with insurance verification of benefits, precertification, predeterminations, and referrals
  • Medical and radiation oncology experience necessary
  • Advanced radiology experience a plus
  • Urology and medical terminology knowledge
