Compensation: $45-$50 per Flat Rate Hour

The Automotive Repair Specialist plays a crucial role in our service department, responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of automotive issues. Your technical skills and problem-solving abilities will ensure that our customers' vehicles operate safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnosis and Repair: Assess customer concerns and symptoms to determine the underlying causes of vehicle issues.
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment to accurately identify problems (including scanners, multimeters, and pressure gauges).
  • Conduct comprehensive inspections of various vehicle systems, including engine, transmission, brakes, and electrical components.
  • Prepare detailed repair plans that outline necessary repairs and associated costs, obtaining customer approval before proceeding.
  • Execute repairs and replace defective components according to service manuals and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Test repaired vehicles to ensure proper functionality and safety.
  • Document all repairs and parts utilized on service orders.

Customer Interaction:

  • Engage with customers in a professional and respectful manner, explaining technical issues in an accessible way.
  • Provide accurate estimates and timelines for repair work.
  • Keep customers informed about the progress of their service and address any concerns promptly.

Technical Expertise:

  • Possess a solid understanding of automotive systems, including their operation, diagnosis, and repair.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and repair methodologies through ongoing training and certifications.
  • Perform a variety of repairs, from routine maintenance to complex engine or transmission overhauls, depending on experience.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using diagnostic tools and automotive repair equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety standards.

Additional Duties:

  • May conduct test drives to assess vehicle performance and diagnose issues.
  • May research technical information and collaborate with colleagues or service manuals to resolve complex problems.
  • May suggest preventative maintenance services to customers.
  • Contribute to a positive and efficient atmosphere within the service department.

Qualifications:

  • Exhibit a high HQ (Hospitality Quotient) characterized by kindness, optimism, intellectual curiosity, work ethic, empathy, self-awareness, and integrity.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Service Technician or in a related automotive repair role (some dealerships may accept less experience with relevant training and certifications).
  • Completion of an automotive technician training program or equivalent experience is required.
  • Holding Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications is a significant advantage (specific certifications may vary based on dealership requirements).
  • Strong knowledge of automotive systems, diagnostics, and repair processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Manual dexterity and the capability to perform physical tasks (lifting, bending, reaching).
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills for effective customer interaction.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • ASE certifications are a plus.
