Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Team Lead to join our Sourcing and Readiness team at Navistar, Inc. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for leading, mentoring, and supporting a team of sourcing and readiness managers in driving quality execution and on-time New Product Launches.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of sourcing and readiness managers to achieve key program objectives in terms of timing, total cost, and quality.
  • Purchasing Activities: Manage all purchasing activities, from initial part release through new program launch, including quoting and sourcing per the predefined category strategy.
  • Supplier Management: Manage supplier readiness and component industrialization from tool kick off through program launch.
  • Performance Metrics: Manage team metrics and performance goals to ensure alignment with company objectives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build relationships with cross-functional teams, vendors, and management to drive successful program execution.
  • Negotiation and Communication: Negotiate cost, tooling, and timing with vendors to ensure program targets are met, and communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment and progress.
  • Problem-Solving and Risk Management: Anticipate and triage potential problems, and proactively manage changes to ensure projects are on time and within budget.
  • Initiative and Reporting: Drive initiatives that support the team with activity tracking and early risk identification, and regularly report on team status with respect to various programs.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Experience: At least 8 years of purchasing/procurement experience, with at least 2 years of management experience.
  • Additional Requirements: Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States, and must not require employment-related work sponsorship.

  • Leadership and Management: Demonstrated record of success with formal and informal leadership, and ability to motivate in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Communication and Negotiation: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to clearly communicate to all levels within the organization and supply base.
  • Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Well-honed critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with ability to quickly learn new concepts.
  • Procurement and Supply Chain: Strong understanding of procurement and supply chain principles, with experience in sourcing and procurement operations.
