About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Principal Design Engineer to join our team at Fluor. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and direction on complex civil engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and review estimates and schedules, progress reports, and manpower forecasts.
  • Establish, track, and monitor material key quantities, providing analysis and forecasts.
  • Develop and review specifications, including design criteria.
  • Participate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting.
  • Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve problems of difficult engineering complexity.
  • Serve as Supervising Lead, providing guidance and supervision to other leads and functioning as a mentor to less experienced engineers.
  • Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines.
Requirements
  • Accredited four-year degree or global equivalent in an engineering field of study and sixteen years of work-related experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
  • Job-related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines.
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience providing civil engineering and design services at DOE/NNSA nuclear facilities in accordance with Federal and site requirements and criteria.
  • Membership in technical society.
  • Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials.
  • Effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting.
  • Managing and leading a large project.
  • Project set-up, developing control-level schedules, progress reporting, and project close-out.
  • Practical field experience.
  • Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet, and electronic presentation programs.
Civil Design Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of civil industrial work, including site layout and geometry, grading and drainage, storm drain design, erosion and sediment control, stormwater ponds, routing of underground utilities, sanitary sewer design, and boundary and topographical surveys.
  • Advanced knowledge of 2D and 3D design software and procedures, including AutoCAD Civil 3D, and managing CAD design on a medium/large project.
  • Intermediate knowledge of civil-related permitting, including stormwater and erosion/sediment control.
