Job Title: Logistics Manager - Supply Chain Expert

About the Role:

  • We are seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to oversee the efficient flow of goods, products, and supplies in our warehouse.
  • As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the receipt, storage, and shipment of products while maintaining a clean and organized warehouse environment.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and oversee proper and timely receipt, warehousing, and shipment of product.
  2. Identify work procedures, prepare work schedules, and expedite workflow.
  3. Issue written and oral instructions to ensure smooth operation.
  4. Responsible for training program for all new employees, ensuring they understand company policies and procedures.
  5. Rotate and train team on each aspect of warehouse processes to maximize efficiency.
  6. Study and standardize procedures to improve worker productivity and accuracy.
  7. Ensure shipments are accurate, on time, and conform to policies, procedures, and customer requirements.
  8. Monitor individual and team productivity and quality, providing regular reports.
  9. Assist employees with work process problems, promoting continuous improvement programs.
  10. Communicate daily with carriers to ensure on-time compliance.
  11. Collaborate with other departments within the company to solve problems and drive business growth.
  12. Assist with safety and OSHA compliance issues, fostering a safe working environment.
  13. Maintain discipline, morale, and harmonious relations among workers.
  14. Ensure the team maintains a clean and organized work area, adhering to high standards.

Day-to-Day Functions:

  1. Supervise daily activities of the warehouse, including quality assurance, logistics, floor productivity, inbound, and shipping.
  2. Ensure orders are processed and shipped to customers on a timely manner, following quality standards.
  3. Establish best practice space mapping, delivery schedules, unloading/receiving procedures, order picking, returns, and stocking standards.
  4. Develop contingency plans for work volume in case of abnormal operating circumstances.
  5. Utilize appropriate managerial techniques to motivate associate staff, driving engagement and performance.
  6. Meet regularly with warehouse leads to review, analyze, and develop actionable plans for productivity and loss prevention.
  7. Maximize use of existing WMS system and recommend/employ additional technology where practical.
  8. Ensure operation of all equipment by calling for repairs, evaluating new equipment, and techniques.
  9. Ensure the team maintains a clean and organized work area, adhering to high standards.
  10. Maintain proper inventory supply levels, ordering and replenishing as needed.
  11. Manage waste and scrap disposal, upholding environmental responsibility.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent; High school diploma required.
  • Minimum 3 years managing a shipping department in a manufacturing environment or distribution facility.
  • Experience in a pick/pack type warehouse environment working with direct-to-consumer or small parcel type shipments and LTL quantity orders.
  • Experience shipping EDI orders and using Warehouse Management System (WMS) and RF scanners.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and activities effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work overtime when required and function effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Forklift experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Good attendance record and reliability.

Physical Demands and Abilities:

  • Lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly walk, bend, stand, and turn for extended periods.
  • Good balance, eye-hand-foot coordination, and ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights.
  • Work in varying temperatures depending on the season.
