The Patient Access Quality Assurance Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of patient throughput processes. This position is essential for maintaining the integrity of patient data and facilitating seamless patient experiences.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough financial screenings to verify patient eligibility, benefits, and medical necessity.
- Obtain prior authorizations and calculate co-pays and other out-of-pocket expenses due from patients.
- Manage patient registration and scheduling, ensuring a smooth check-in and check-out process.
- Maintain high standards of data accuracy for patient demographics and insurance coverage.
- Support the financial success of the University of Mississippi Medical Center through meticulous attention to detail and reliable data management.
A high school diploma or GED is required, along with a minimum of one year of experience in patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, or related fields. Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Familiarity with patient throughput workflows and healthcare regulations.
- Proficient in revenue cycle management systems.
- Strong analytical skills to identify and rectify errors in data.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data entry.
This role may involve occasional exposure to challenging physical environments and requires the ability to perform various physical tasks, including lifting and carrying light to moderate weights.
Additional InformationAll candidates must adhere to confidentiality standards and comply with HIPAA regulations. This position is vital for upholding the quality and integrity of patient access services.
