Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) is seeking a highly skilled Patient Care Coordinator I to join our dynamic team. As a Patient Care Coordinator I, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth delivery of patient care services.
Key Responsibilities:- Schedule patient appointments and coordinate with other departments to ensure efficient patient flow.
- Work closely with patients, families, visitors, providers, and staff to identify needs, answer questions, resolve problems, provide information, and follow up.
- Update patient and caregiver contact information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) as needed.
- Communicate with providers, technologists, and nurses regarding patient scheduling needs, treatment schedules, and additional requests.
- Manage and prioritize scheduling requests, recognizing emergency situations and initiating correct code procedures.
- Support the overall function of the department, taking on additional duties as needed, such as cross-coverage, special projects, and training new staff.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Ability to work independently, organize, and prioritize concurrent responsibilities and demands.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Proficient in the use of word processing, email, and data entry in a Windows-based environment.
- Ability to solve complex problems and meet patient needs.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented, and complex healthcare environment.
- Bachelor's degree (BA or BS).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a patient care setting.
- Experience with Epic or other scheduling and registration software.
