Job Summary

As a Mechanic/Technician Apprentice with the Utah Transit Authority, you will participate in technical instruction and attend classroom sessions as required, passing written tests to demonstrate competency in various modules. This is a competency-based program that requires you to demonstrate proficiency in 10 key areas, including Preventative Maintenance, Electrical, Brakes, Air Systems, and more. You will perform manual tasks under supervision, assist advanced-skill employees in complex repairs, and conduct preventative maintenance inspections and associated repairs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in technical instruction and attend classroom sessions as required
  • Pass written tests to demonstrate competency in various modules
  • Perform manual tasks under supervision
  • Assist advanced-skill employees in complex repairs
  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and associated repairs
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Have a current, or be able to acquire, a Class B CDL with passenger endorsement within 60 days of eligibility
  • Successful candidates must have ALL of the following:
  • A current, or be able to acquire, valid Class B CDL drivers license and associated endorsements
  • Able to pass both an aptitude and standardized test determined by UTA
  • The required tools
  • Successful candidates must have ONE of the following:
  • Have a 2-year degree in a related field
  • OR Have a military MOS in a related field
  • OR Have one year of related technical school AND one year of related experience
  • OR Have 6 months UTA experience (TVT/Helper level)
