We are seeking a highly skilled Prior Authorization Specialist to join our team at Prevea Health. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our patients receive the necessary authorization for their medical procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with department physicians and staff to ensure understanding of information needed to obtain proper authorization for payment.
- Communicate with patients prior to specialty consultation or surgical procedure to provide them with information regarding their coverage.
- Identify what is required for Preauthorization of surgical procedures and complete the process to minimize denial of claims.
- Prepare and maintain accurate Preauthorization documentation.
- Communicate with hospitals and patients on the progress and approval of Preauthorization.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-3 years of experience in a medical or insurance role preferred.
- General computer knowledge to navigate electronic medical records and documentation.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of insurance and medical terminology.
- Knowledge of CPT/ICD-9 coding useful.
- Occasional noise in the work environment.
