Job Overview

The Infection Preventionist plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for residents, staff, and visitors at Petersen Health Care. This position is responsible for developing and implementing infection prevention strategies to minimize the risk of healthcare-associated infections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director to establish and achieve annual infection prevention goals and objectives.
  • Partner with facility leaders, physicians, and external agencies to promote infection prevention best practices.
  • Conduct surveillance of healthcare-associated and community-acquired infections to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement education and training programs for staff, volunteers, and medical staff on infection prevention principles and practices.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to infection control and OSHA procedures.
Requirements
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse.
  • Specialty training in infection prevention and control through a recognized continuing education program.
  • Previous experience in long-term care, including direct experience in infection control.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
