Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist to join our team at Northwell Health. As a CT Technologist, you will be responsible for preparing patients for CT scans, explaining procedures, and ensuring that all necessary equipment is set up and functioning properly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for CT scans by positioning them on the exam table and ensuring that all necessary equipment is set up and functioning properly.
  • Explain procedures to patients and obtain informed consent for IV contrast materials.
  • Screen patients for pregnancy and ensure that all necessary precautions are taken.
  • Perform CT procedures, including abdominal, thoracic, neurological exams, and extremities.
  • Enter patient history and other pertinent information into the imaging system.
  • Adjust and ensure proper slice thickness and couch increment.
  • Operate the CT scanner to obtain required images as ordered by the Radiologist.
  • Administer intravenous (IV) and oral contrast agents as ordered by the Radiologist.
  • Verify that there are no contraindications to the administration of IV contrast agent.
  • Calculate contrast dose based on patient weight.
  • Perform venipuncture of appropriate gauge necessary for examination.
  • Recognize and assist in the treatment of contrast agent reactions and IV extravasations.
Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • New York State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist with certification in IV contrast administration.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists registration in Computed Tomography R.T. (CT) (ARRT).
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS).
  • Previous CT experience preferred.
Additional Information

Must be available to work additional assignments on any shifts as needed, including weekends and holidays.
