Job Summary

This is a unique opportunity to lead the Psychiatric Services Unit at the Hawaii State Hospital, ensuring that psychiatric services meet or exceed established standards and requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the development, implementation, and coordination of treatment and rehabilitation programming and services.
  • Ensure accountability for all psychiatric activities within the hospital.
  • Direct the development of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff members to ensure optimal performance and productivity.
Requirements
  • Graduate from an approved medical school in the United States or Canada or graduate from a foreign medical school and certification by the Educational Commission of Foreign Medical Graduates.
  • Completion of approved psychiatric residency training.
  • Board certification or meets the criteria to sit for the examination of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
  • Three and one half (3 1⁄2) years of progressively responsible professional work experience in a community or inpatient psychiatric program directing the development, implementation, and coordination of treatment and rehabilitation programming and services.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience in an inpatient program setting, including performance evaluation and labor relations.
