Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized customer service and care to patients, ensuring their comfort and understanding of treatment.
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal relations with patients, co-workers, physicians, and guests, ensuring effective communication and a positive experience.
  • Complete clinical activities identified in the patient's plan of care, meeting patients' comfort, activity, and sleep needs, and other clinical patient needs as delegated by professional staff.
  • Document all data collected, accurately, completely, and in a timely manner, to provide an accurate record of patient activities and response to activities.
  • Provide housekeeping activities to contribute to a safe, efficient, effective, and sanitary patient care environment.
  • Consistently recognize and utilize measures to provide for safe, efficient, patient care and work environment.
  • Directly responsible to the staff nurse and assists in the care of the patient by performing delegated activities utilizing the reciprocal process of the 4 Rights of Delegation.
  • Prepare exam rooms and equipment to facilitate treatment and examination of patients, setting up instruments/equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain work areas to ensure healthy environment conditions, cleaning and organizing equipment, rooms, and work spaces.
  • Cover the front reception area as directed, serving as a back-up office assistant, answering phone calls professionally, and utilizing the message center as appropriate.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) preferred.
  • Completion of first clinical rotation as Nursing Assistant preferred.
  • Successful completion of the 75-hour state-approved Nurse Assistant course or 6 months Nurse Assistant experience required.
  • Previous customer service, cleaning, food service, and/or patient-related experience preferred.
  • One to three months on-the-job experience to learn hospital procedures and work routines preferred.
  • Previous experience in patient care settings, such as hospitals, clinics, or nursing homes, preferred.
  • Previous experience with direct patient contact preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) certification strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
