Position Overview

The U.S. Department of the Interior is seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of a Geologist. This position is critical in understanding and managing the geological resources of our nation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Methodology and Procedures: Conducts assessments of stratigraphic, structural, and geochemical properties of geological formations. This includes evaluating sand and gravel resources, productive facies, and the thermal evolution of geological structures through various techniques such as mapping, well log correlation, and field sampling.
  • Data Acquisition and Analysis: Utilizes a comprehensive range of geological and geochemical methodologies to gather data and samples. Engages in geological observations, computations, and measurements, ensuring the reliability of collected data and investigating any anomalies.
  • Geological Interpretation: Performs detailed analyses of geological and geophysical data, conducting extensive investigations that may encompass reservoir identification, well log analysis, seismic data interpretation, and the development of geological cross-sections.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepares complex and authoritative reports on geological studies, which may involve the development of innovative methods for field and laboratory investigations, conveying intricate geological and hydrological information.
  • Mentorship and Development: Provides oversight and technical reviews of project designs and documentation, ensuring adherence to scientific quality assurance standards.

Employment Conditions

Candidates must be U.S. Citizens or U.S. Nationals and suitable for federal employment, as determined by a background investigation. Required documentation includes a resume and supporting materials to verify eligibility and qualifications.

Qualifications
