We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Coding Specialist to join our team at the University of Utah. As a key member of our revenue cycle team, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and compliant coding practices across our healthcare system.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct high-level analysis of reports to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Provide feedback and recommendations to aid in reduction of denials
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance Educators and Coding supervisors on mitigation of denials related to coding and system processes
- Responsible for identifying and summarizing payer concerns and escalating for resolution
- Quality Review of team for appropriate coding and documentation
- American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) recognized certification
- 3 years coding, clinical, or billing experience or equivalency
- Demonstrated knowledge of clinical documentation requirements related to regulatory and reimbursement rules and regulations
- Proficiency with computer software such as Microsoft Word and Excel
