Job Summary

The Patient Access Representative I is a vital member of the St. Luke's University Health Network team, responsible for ensuring seamless patient registration and access to care. This role requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Correctly identify and validate patients in the hospital information system to maintain accurate electronic medical records.
  • Verify insurance and guarantor information, and ensure proper point of service cash collections.
  • Transcribe diagnostic orders, complete registration screens, and enter diagnosis and provider information.
  • Communicate and coordinate with SLPG practices, clinical departments, and revenue cycle departments to ensure excellent patient experience and clean claim submission.
  • Maintain knowledge of network policies and procedures, including patient identification, chart corrections, and patient look-up.
  • Provide friendly and courteous service to patients, visitors, and colleagues, and promote the use of MyChart patient portal and patient self-service capabilities.
  • Oversee and assist patients with Welcome Kiosk and On My Way technology, and ensure accurate and timely processing of electronic diagnostic orders.
  • Verify and transcribe all outpatient written diagnostic testing orders, and process electronic diagnostic orders.
  • Identify, collect, and record point of service cash collections, and post credit card payments in Epic or other applications.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent required; certificate/degree in healthcare related field preferred.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills required.
  • General computer experience and ability to type fluently, accurately, and quickly required.
  • Insurance background and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Previous medical administrative experience and/or healthcare related education courses preferred.
