Role Objective
As the Director of Global Operations for Heinz Tomato Seed, you will be at the forefront of leading HeinzSeed, a distinguished hybrid tomato seed enterprise with a global footprint. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee and manage the daily operations, ensuring excellence in safety, production, quality assurance, research and development, commercial activities, and financial performance. You will work closely with departmental leaders to formulate and execute budgets, devise strategic business plans, and navigate challenges to achieve targeted outcomes.
Core Responsibilities
- Manage daily operational activities, collaborating with department heads and key stakeholders to develop and implement the growth strategy for HeinzSeed.
- Lead the commercial planning process, from market segmentation to opportunity identification, portfolio management, brand strategy, and integrated action plans, ensuring thorough analysis and timely adjustments.
- Supervise the global sales organization, which operates in over 30 countries, coordinating with regional sales managers and distributors.
- Oversee agricultural research and farming operations in key regions.
- Accountable for HeinzSeed's profit and loss, achieving annual performance targets and driving revenue growth.
- Ensure adherence to internal financial protocols and compliance with national and local regulations.
- Assess commercial, scientific, and technical proposals, supporting business case development to secure investments for initiatives.
- Contribute significantly to the Global Agriculture and Sustainability leadership team, taking charge of the global seed strategy, including recruitment, team building, and development of a high-performing workforce.
- Lead HeinzSeed to achieve global market leadership, measured by value market share.
- Increase global net sales of processing tomato seeds.
- Meet annual performance objectives across all business functions.
- Establish a sustainable competitive advantage that yields long-term shareholder returns.
- Execute the 10-year strategic plan for HeinzSeed to enhance shareholder value and other financial metrics.
- Implement an operational framework that ensures sustained excellence across all functions of HeinzSeed.
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree is essential; an MBA or advanced qualifications are preferred.
- At least 10 to 15 years of general management experience, with a strong preference for five years in processing crops.
- Experience in international sales, logistics, operations, and production management.
- 3+ years of experience in a leadership role with full P&L responsibility.
- Exceptional business acumen and communication skills, with the ability to foster relationships with customers, suppliers, growers, industry stakeholders, and company leaders. Multilingual abilities are advantageous.
- Results-driven, skilled in resolving complex issues and managing uncertainty; adept at anticipating challenges and implementing solutions.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to evaluate various perspectives and foresee future challenges, proactively identifying mitigation strategies.
- Possess strong organizational agility, effectively navigating formal and informal channels to achieve objectives, and demonstrating effective delegation skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and focus on what is most critical, removing obstacles for the team.
- Experience in crafting long-term business strategies with confidence.
- Demonstrated commitment to execution and meeting commitments.
- Experience in leading diverse, multinational teams.
- Willingness to travel extensively and adapt to varying work schedules, including weekends and holidays as needed.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Base Salary Range: $179,000 - $224,300.00
Target Total Cash Range: $322,000 - $403,740.00
Target total cash reflects the annualized cash earning potential at target (base salary + target bonus), contingent on company performance and individual achievement of performance goals. Additional compensation may be available in the form of equity.
