Nurse Midwife Specialist

The Certified Nurse Midwife functions within the Nurse Midwife scope of practice, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to independently manage patient care across various settings. Key responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, health promotion, and coordination of care for patients and families. The CNM demonstrates an advanced level of clinical knowledge, communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism, and evidence-based practice.
Responsibilities- Assess and diagnose patients, developing and implementing individualized care plans
- Provide primary and secondary care to patients, including prenatal, postpartum, and well-woman care
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality patient care
- Develop and maintain relationships with patients, families, and healthcare providers
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and education programs
- Graduate from an accredited school of Nurse Midwifery
- Current licensure as a RN and APNP in Wisconsin
- Board Certified Nurse Midwife
- BLS certified
- Meets health requirements
- NRP
The Certified Nurse Midwife will work in a clinic environment with appropriate technological support. The ideal candidate will be able to deal with multiple priorities in a calm manner, requiring decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements- Frequently sit while performing tasks
- Carry objects weighing less than 10 pounds
- Occasionally walk and stand
- Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds while transferring and positioning patients and maneuvering equipment
- Occasionally bend to the floor, squat, kneel, crouch, and reach overhead to assist with patient care or retrieve equipment or supplies
- Occasionally handle objects, smell, feel, control knobs, switches, and levers
- Continual exposure to an inside, patient environment with occasional unpleasant odors or noises
- Occasional exposure to low light or glare conditions
- Frequent problem-solving, analyzing, use of judgment, and critical thinking in regards to lab values, changes of patient condition, environmental factors, flexibility
- Occasionally able to rotate shifts, work overtime, be on call
- Frequently able to work alone, take initiative, and actively share the workload through collaboration and delegation
- Continuously plan and direct patient care, manage conflict or difficult situations
- Occasionally prioritize workflow while maintaining speed, accuracy, and consistency
