Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Job Summary:

This role involves providing direct nursing care to patients in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.

Responsibilities:
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans, ensuring timely and effective interventions to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Serve as a primary coordinator for all disciplines, facilitating seamless communication and collaboration among healthcare teams.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders, prioritizing tasks to meet patient needs efficiently.
  • Assess and coordinate discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team, promoting a smooth transition to home or further care.
  • Demonstrate expertise in assessing patients, identifying physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and age-related needs to provide individualized care.
  • Delegate aspects of care to other nursing personnel consistent with their level of education and expertise, maximizing staff performance and patient satisfaction.
  • Participate in daily interdisciplinary patient rounds, contributing valuable insights to inform treatment decisions and optimize patient outcomes.
  • Reflect on ANA Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice, adhering to ethical guidelines and professional standards.
  • Develop, implement, and revise individualized plans of care, tailoring interventions to meet unique patient needs.
  • Pursue ongoing professional growth and development outside of patient care, staying current with best practices and emerging trends in the field.
Requirements:
  • Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Connecticut Department of Public Health required.
  • Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 60 days of hire date.
  • Associate's Degree required, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Experience in an acute care psychiatric setting is preferred.
  • Evidence of leadership ability and skills to manage challenging patient situations effectively.
