The iOS Developer Experience team is responsible for creating the essential infrastructure and tools that enable Block's iOS development to be swift and efficient at scale. This team acts as a significant force multiplier, dedicated to enhancing the developer experience for all iOS engineers at Block. Our primary focus is on refining both the local Integrated Development Environment (IDE) and Continuous Integration (CI) processes within our extensive and modularized monorepo codebase.
Key Responsibilities:- Enhance the speed and efficiency of the iOS developer experience utilizing Bazel.
- Boost the productivity of our iOS engineers in developing, testing, and delivering applications to our users.
- Identify and resolve performance issues within the iOS development workflow.
- Improve the performance and usability of our build tools.
- Assess the team's scope and priorities by pinpointing opportunities to reduce build times, simplify systems, and enhance the developer experience.
- Oversee the successful execution of team projects, ensuring measurable outcomes.
Required:
- A strong enthusiasm for enhancing the development speed of fellow engineers and refining their developer experience.
- Proven experience leading initiatives that elevate developer productivity.
- Familiarity with build and CI tools such as Jenkins, BuildKite, and fastlane.
- Solid software engineering expertise with the ability to offer technical mentorship and guidance.
Preferred:
- Experience with Bazel, Blaze, or Buck build systems.
- Knowledge of reverse engineering Xcode, macOS, or iOS applications.
- Proficiency in iOS/Mac development languages like Swift and Objective-C, along with relevant tools.
- Familiarity with Starlark, Python, and Ruby.
