Job Summary

The Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (Echocardiographer) will utilize ultrasound equipment to produce high-frequency sound waves, creating diagnostic images of the heart for cardiac diagnosis and treatment. This role will work closely with physicians/cardiologists to ensure accurate and timely interpretation of imaging results.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Explains procedures to patients and assists patients in proper positioning for the test.
  2. Selects transducer and makes equipment adjustments according to the nature of the test, depth of field, and other test specifications.
  3. Performs the echocardiogram according to policy and procedures.
  4. Enters test data and patient information into the computer to become part of the test record.
  5. Prepares preliminary report.
  6. Ensures images and report are available for interpretation.
  7. Ensures a report is generated and available to the ordering physician.
  8. Checks equipment on a regular basis to ensure proper operation.
  9. Will be required to perform bone dexa exams.
Requirements
  • Must be a graduate of an approved course in Cardiac Sonography.
  • Successful completion of the Adult Cardiography registry exam with ARDMS preferred.
  • Clinical experience sufficient to be eligible for registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
  • Registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers is preferred.
  • CPR certification.
  • Echo Certification.
