Overview

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is seeking an Associate Chair of Emergency Medicine to join their team at NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health. This prestigious hospital is part of NYC Health + Hospitals, a comprehensive health care delivery system in the United States. The hospital features a state-of-the-art 11-floor Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hospital, providing emergency care, modern labor & delivery suites, and surgical services. The Health & Wellness Institute offers outpatient services, including primary and preventive care, specialty services for children and adults, and more than 250,000 outpatient visits annually.

We are looking for a highly qualified and experienced physician to lead our Emergency Department as Associate Chair. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

The Associate Chair of Emergency Medicine will be responsible for:

  • Providing clinical direction to direct reports and setting patient care standards
  • Engaging in strategic planning with hospital executive and clinical leadership
  • Developing and collecting performance metrics to improve patient care
  • Ensuring effective communication with clinical and operational leadership
  • Assessing physician competency and intervening as needed
  • Participating in the Department's Quality Assessment and Improvement Committee
  • Acting as direct supervisor and consultant for staff assigned to Services
  • Knowledge of Patient Safety Requirements
  • Participating in medical educational meetings to improve quality care
  • Determining qualifications and competence of department personnel
  • Establishing mechanisms for orientating and providing in-service training and continuing education
  • Providing direct patient care as assigned
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an emergency medicine residency training program accredited by ACGME or American Board of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Active Board Certification in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or ABEOM)
  • Active, unrestricted NYS License
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical practice
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a clinical supervisory role
  • Experience attending to an under-served population preferred
