About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Harm Reduction Specialist to join our team at the North Colorado Health Alliance. As a key member of our Addiction Response Team, you will play a vital role in expanding and supporting harm reduction services across Northern Colorado.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a member of the Northern Colorado Health Alliance and the Addiction Response Team to expand and support harm reduction services in the region.
  • Facilitate educational presentations and marketing in the community, including individual and group level interventions, outreach events, and other materials.
  • Provide in-person support during the operation of the syringe access program, including safe disposal, distribution of syringes and safe injection/snorting supplies, overdose education, data entry, and intakes.
  • Represent NCHA at community events and collaborative meetings as needed.
  • Maintain current understanding of overdose, treatment, and recovery best practices, as well as HIV/HCV prevention issues and trends.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 2 years in active personal recovery.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with individuals who have an addiction, with a preference for those with opioid use disorder.
  • Cultural competence, especially concerning substance-related stigma and poverty.
  • Honesty with one's own experience and ability to empathize with others' addiction and recovery process.
  • The ability to maintain a non-reactive and calm demeanor when engaging with individuals who may be intoxicated, belligerent, or have a history of behavioral health issues.
  • Ability to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances and needs dictate for member success.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic computer skills for navigation through electronic medical record systems and data collection tools.
  • Completion of a 40-credit hour course as a Peer Recovery Coach.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as paid time off and opportunities for professional development.
