POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Railcar Customer Service Supervisor will oversee the tracking of railcars within our operational network, ensuring that customer requirements are documented and communicated effectively to our team. This role involves monitoring response times, addressing customer concerns, and managing special projects. Candidates should possess prior experience in the rail industry and demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, along with a robust background in customer service characterized by excellent communication and organizational skills. Experience in railcar fleet management or related fields is preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are essential to the role:

  • Act as the primary liaison for customers, addressing inquiries and requests related to maintenance services for railcars. Provide technical information regarding repair, cleaning, and coating specifications for various railcar types.
  • Clarify necessary maintenance procedures for railcars to customers.
  • Assist customers in scheduling required project work on railcars, establishing a clear communication strategy among customers, plant management, and corporate customer service to ensure that servicing requirements and scheduling commitments are fulfilled.
  • Ensure that customer and Rescar database systems accurately reflect the maintenance status and timelines of railcars.
  • Collaborate with the internal Quality Assurance department to monitor and address customer complaints, ensuring that servicing issues are resolved promptly.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor's Degree (Preferred) or Equivalent Experience
Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years in railcar maintenance planning and fleet management; or 5 years in railcar repair (Tank and Hopper), cleaning, or coating processes; or a combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understanding of railcar maintenance procedures, including repair, cleaning, and coating/painting.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations, including AAR and FRA rules, and Tank Car Maintenance Regulations; knowledge of current regulatory requirements.
  • General understanding of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) processes and their application in railcar maintenance.
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to build solid relationships, address inquiries, resolve complaints, and meet or exceed customer expectations.
