Role Overview

This key position plays a crucial part in developing, testing, and deploying complex solutions.

  • Create data strategies that go beyond immediate team needs and solve large open-ended problems.
  • Participate in strategic project development, evaluating methods, techniques, and criteria.
  • Oversee technical and data architecture, design, prototyping, and implementation for product and technology needs.
  • Lead technical planning, execute design and build processes through production delivery.
  • Provide leadership and expertise to functional teams and plan execution.
  • Represent engineering in cross-functional sessions and present arguments to persuade others.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineering groups to conceptualize new features and create product descriptions.
  • Own features or systems and define their long-term health, improving surrounding systems.
  • Assist Support and Operations teams in resolving production issues.
  • Develop tests for quality, performance, and scalability.
  • Seek ways to improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.
  • Support risk management and protect system integrity and confidentiality.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Ten or more years of relevant experience.
  • Seven or more years in complex data platforms, distributed systems, SaaS, cloud solutions, microservices.
  • Six or more years in Data Warehouse, Big Data - structured & unstructured platforms, real-time & batch processing, data standards.
  • Experience delivering business-critical systems to market.
  • Ability to influence and work in a collaborative environment.
  • Designing/developing scalable systems.
  • Extensive experience implementing Data Warehouse (Star/Snowflake schemas) using SQL Server or equivalent.
  • Cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Azure, etc).
  • Mature engineering practices (CI/CD, testing, secure coding, etc).
  • Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) best practices, software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, LEAN etc), DevOps practices.
  • Background and drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MS or BSc in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field.
  • Database platforms (Oracle, SQL Server, Redshift) with performance aspects and replication.
  • Computer language experience (Python, Pyspark, Scala).
  • Modern data pipelines using AWS technologies (S3, Kinesis, Glue).
  • Data solutions with monitoring/alerting and cloud-based observability tools.
  • Real-time payment networks.
  • FinTech experience.
Physical Requirements

Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary, requiring extensive use of a computer and sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.
