Job Summary

The Neurophysiology Technologist performs Clinical Evoked Potential, Intraoperative Monitoring, and other related testing within the Neurophysiology Lab.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs Electroencephalographic procedures at the bedside or in the neurophysiology lab.
  • Prepares patients for testing by informing and explaining the procedure, applying electrodes accordingly, and administering the requested test.
  • Set up equipment and supplies needed to administer EEG recording and monitoring.
  • Answers call for emergency patient care requirements of the Neurophysiology Lab during holidays, weekends, and after hours assigned.
  • Maintains proper paperwork and documentation for all tests based on age appropriateness and development needs of patients.
  • All other assigned duties related to Neurophysiology Lab.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of an approved EEG technology program OR 3 years of experience performing EEG.
Licenses/Certifications/Registrations
  • Registration by the American Board of Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist (ABRET).
  • Successful completion and pass of Part II ABRET boards for at least one modality (EEG, EP, EMU), within 1 year of hire into the role.
Skills and Abilities
  • Understanding of basic medical terminology.
  • Understanding of basic anatomy and physiology of the body.
  • Effective communicator; Must read, write, and speak English.
  • Should be able to work flexible schedule and be 'on call' when needed.
