Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Vascular Sonographer to join our team at Trinity Health. As a Vascular Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing ultrasound procedures, providing patient education, and mentoring student technologists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform ultrasound procedures on scheduled shifts, including emergency callback and operating ultrasound equipment.
  • Provide patient education and counseling on physical, emotional, and environmental health problems.
  • Instruct, supervise, and evaluate student technologists, serving as a mentor and resource for other Sonographers.
  • Promote professionalism within the department, hospital, and community, acting as a role model.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in performing all exams according to protocol and maintain a clean, well-stocked, and orderly physical environment.
  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently, reporting any malfunctions to the manager or Bio-med.
  • Manage and coordinate activities with other areas of the department and hospital to ensure patient care.
  • Attend hospital and department meetings and in-services.
  • Comply with OSHA/JCAHO and other regulatory agency recommendations and guidelines.
  • Perform high-level disinfection of reusable items, such as transducers, per the manufacturer's recommendations.
Qualifications
  • Successful completion of an accredited two-year Noninvasive Vascular Technology training program.
  • ARDMS registry as a Vascular Technologist, with active registry status.
  • 2 or more years' experience at Mercy Medical Center as a Vascular Sonographer or 3 years Vascular Sonography experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
  • Acceptable credentialing bodies and certification include American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
  • No formal disciplinary actions in file in the last 12 months.
  • Actively supportive of management staff and Mercy initiatives.
