Summary:

Our Optometrists combine exceptional work ethic, high energy, and an outstanding personality with a deep technical understanding of optometry. They are highly organized, thorough, and detail-oriented, with the ability to effectively adapt to a fast-paced team environment. They are committed to providing a comfortable and successful service and experience for all of our patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform refractive surgery consultations and office visits as needed.
  • Develop positive optometrist-patient relationships.
  • Evaluate patients for LASIK or other refractive surgery and make recommendations as to treatment options to the Ophthalmologist.
  • Work together with the Ophthalmologist to achieve the best possible outcome for all patients.
  • Execute consistent and specific medical protocol.
  • Train patients or caregivers in techniques for managing at-home care.
  • Provide leadership, management, and accountability for timely patient appointments.
  • Represent the organization within the public, medical, and business community.
  • Record and maintain clinical and business data in written and/or electronic form.
  • Participate in co-management and related special projects.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

A Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited School of Optometry.

Language Ability:

Fluency in the English language. Excellent oral and written comprehension and expression. Speech clarity and recognition. Active listening. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret related medical, scientific, and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries and provide information to patients, vendors, colleagues, and members of the business community. Good interpersonal and presentation skills.

Math Ability:

Ability to use mathematical methods or formulas for related medical and scientific measurements and calculations. Ability to calculate percentages. Ability to compile, tabulate, or verify information or data.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form. Ability to use logic. Ability to identify information by categorizing, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes.

Computer Skills:

Microsoft Office Suite, Email, Calendar, and Scheduling Software, Medical Software, Internet, Data Entry.

Certificates and Licenses:

Licensed to practice Optometry in Illinois State prior to beginning employment. Excellent standing with all licensure authorities.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position may supervise and/or assist employees relative to specific tasks or projects, but has no direct reports.
