Job Summary

The Coordinator, Internships provides support for students with the intention of preparing and connecting more students to internship opportunities. This position will also work with employers to support the development of internship and career opportunities for students.

Job Description
  • Promotes a "culture of internships" throughout the campus community through representation of the Internships & Cooperative Programs (ICP) office.
  • Advises and coaches students one-on-one and in group settings to include but not limited to internship search strategies, class presentations, career and major exploration, and professional career transition topics.
  • Works with specific academic disciplines, campus initiatives, or special programs to provide career coaching and career management guidance as it pertains to applying to internships and other work-based learning opportunities.
  • Communicates with faculty and academic advisors about upcoming events, to set up and present class presentations, and to provide consultation to faculty who coordinate academic internship programs.
  • Serves as a liaison between employers seeking or supervising interns and one or more designated academic departments.
  • Conducts workshops and presentations to increase awareness of internship opportunities and use of Eagle Career Network.
  • Assists in departmental planning and execution of career and internship fairs, workshops, online orientations, and special events related to internships.
  • Stays current on trends, resources, research, and employer recruitment activities that impact student employability.
  • Manages the internship approval process and paperwork for designated programs as well as the database of internships and other work-based learning opportunities.
  • Gathers and compiles program success stories and internship data for use in promotion and reporting.

Minimum Requirements for a Coordinator, Internships Level I:

This position requires either six years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.

Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

This position requires either eight years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.

Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to the position.

Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.

Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

Advanced interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.

Ability to understand, interpret, apply, and explain personnel policies and procedures.

Ability to manage and coordinate assignments to meet deadlines.

Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with university faculty, staff, students, and the general public.

Ability to work independently to complete assignments.

Ability to provide professional customer service.

Ability to thrive in an organization that values the diversity of its student body and workforce and actively promotes an equitable environment.

Applicants will be evaluated for roles as either Coordinator, Internships Level I or Coordinator, Internships Level II based on their qualifications.
