Job Description

Visa is a world leader in payments and technology, with a mission to connect the world through innovative, convenient, reliable, and secure payments networks. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Counsel, Regulatory Affairs to join our team in Washington DC.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice and support to the Value Added Services (VAS) business, working closely with colleagues across the globe to navigate complex regulatory and commercial matters.
  • Navigate the complex landscape of regulations and risk management considerations applicable to VAS, working closely with other experienced attorneys across regions and practice areas.
  • Engage and manage external counsel on a range of issues, interrogating legal analyses and translating advice into clear and actionable guidance for our business teams.
  • Understand Visa's strategy, recognizing the connections between matters and working proactively to ensure these are given appropriate attention for the benefit of the Visa group and its overall management of legal risk.
  • Manage day-to-day legal queries and take the lead on all relevant legal activities, training business areas on law, processes, and policies.
Qualifications
  • 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD)
  • Admitted to practice law in the United States and in good standing
  • Fluent English speaker
  • Strong academic credentials
Preferred Qualifications
  • 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)
  • Experience with commercial law and regulations in a multi-jurisdictional environment
  • Familiarity with U.S. credit, debit, and payment system laws, consumer reporting, and fair lending laws, and third-party risk management considerations
Additional Information
