Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified lecturer to teach a course called Yiddish history, culture, language on a part-time, temporary basis depending on department needs. The course will be taught as an online synchronous course, available to all 23 CSU campuses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach a course in Yiddish history, culture, and language to students at San Jose State University.
  • Develop and implement a syllabus for the course, in accordance with university requirements.
  • Prepare course materials, conduct class sessions, and meet virtually with students during named office hours.
  • Use Canvas and other appropriate instructional technology to support teaching and learning.
  • Maintain student records, including enrollment, attendance, grades, and assessment.
  • Follow all CSU and SJSU policies and guidelines.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Jewish Studies or a related field.
  • Minimum one year of teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
  • Ability to teach and evaluate adult learners.
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching Yiddish history, culture, and language at the post-secondary level.
  • Experience with the Canvas Learning Management System.
