Job Title: School Nurse for Special Education

We are seeking a qualified School Nurse for Special Education to join our team at DeKalb County School District. The successful candidate will provide medical support to medically fragile students with disabilities, working under the supervision of a physician and adhering to standards of care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop treatment plans for medically fragile students based on diagnosis, history, physical assessment, and physician's orders
  • Manage a caseload of medically fragile students with disabilities and conduct medical procedures as required
  • Maintain daily documentation of assessments, interventions, treatments, and results for special education students
  • Attend IEP meetings to assist with developing a plan of medical care and support
  • Train, educate, and advise students, teachers, administrators, and staff in clinical procedures, infectious diseases, and other health issues
  • Confers with parents, guardians, physicians, and other healthcare providers regarding changes and medical problems
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a Georgia Professional Standards Commission-approved accredited college or university
  • Minimum three years of experience in pediatric nursing
  • Valid State of Georgia registered nurse license
  • Valid certificate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
