NSIS Supervisor

We are seeking a highly skilled NSIS Supervisor to join our team at Smithfield Foods. As a key member of our FS/QA team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality assurance in our meat processing facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct routine sanitation checks to ensure compliance with HACCP and USDA regulations
• Provide technical expertise to track product from start to finish and develop corrective actions when needed
• Ensure overall regulatory, procedural, policy, and work instruction compliance in barn and harvest areas
• Train and coach sorters to recognize and identify diseases, consumer concerns, and contamination in pork/swine
• Manage NSIS and communicate with NSIS sorters, area supervision, and USDA officials to ensure correct tagging and marking

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (food safety, quality assurance, harvest processing, or USDA inspection)
• 2+ years' experience in a related field, with experience acting as a lead and providing training and coaching
• Comprehensive knowledge of USDA, HACCP, and SSOP requirements
• Ability to uphold regulatory, company, and customer standards
• Strong oral and written communication skills

Work Environment:

The work environment will include wet or humid conditions, extreme cold and heat, working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, perform repetitive tasks, walk, and stand for prolonged periods.
