Job Summary

28 bed Medical/Surgical unit is the primary unit for Trauma/Neurosurgery, Urology and General surgery patients. They are the alternate unit for orthopaedic surgery, hospitalist and other medicine patients.

As a registered nurse, you will be expected to deliver exceptional care and customer service, demonstrating respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in every interaction with patients, families, visitors, and colleagues. You will assume primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care for patients of all ages, utilizing delegation and critical thinking skills to provide quality service through a team-oriented, collaborative approach to patient care.

The RN's duties include:

  • Completing age-specific admission and ongoing assessments, documenting and using them to develop a plan of care.
  • Collaborating with the healthcare team, patient, and family to develop, implement, and evaluate an age-specific interdisciplinary plan of care, revising it according to changes in patient status.
  • Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care to achieve optimum patient outcomes for patients of all ages, as appropriate to the service area.
  • Accurately administering and documenting treatments and medications for patients of all ages, utilizing automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
  • Meeting sign on bonus criteria.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduate of a school of professional nursing of an accredited college or graduate of an approved program eligible to sit for the Virginia licensure exam.

Experience: None.

Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure. Obtain CPR, and as needed ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications.

Other: Computer skills required for electronic medical record (EPIC). Successfully complete orientation and competency requirements. Meet essential job functions.
