About the Job

International Marine and Industrial Applicators is seeking a skilled Outside Machinist to join our team. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining ship machinery and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and repair foundations for operating machinery and principal structures/components of ships armament.
  • Install, adjust, set, and repair or replace various control/regulating or safety devices such as meters, gages, valves, governors, and automatic alarms.
  • Test or assist in testing of shipboard machinery pierside or on sea trials to prove satisfactory operation and acceptance.
  • Install ship machinery, including propelling machinery, auxiliary motors, pumps, ventilating equipment, and steering gear, working from blueprints and using hand tools, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Install below-deck auxiliaries, such as evaporators, stills, heaters, pumps, condensers, and boilers, and connect them to steam pipe systems.
  • Test and inspect installed machinery and equipment during dock and sea trials.
  • Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, quality manuals, and procedure manuals.
Working Conditions
  • Work will be performed within the shipyard, with minimal exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, and hazardous machinery.
  • Some travel may be required.
