The Role

The Certified Medication Aide position is essential in providing assistance to our community's residents with their daily living activities that they may find challenging. Certified Medication Aides are tasked with the administration of prescribed medications. Responsibilities include monitoring residents' health, documenting any changes, and collecting necessary samples. The ideal candidate will be meticulous, knowledgeable about care procedures, and possess strong communication abilities.

Your Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES:
  • Administer routine daily medications, including both prescription and over-the-counter options, to residents.
  • Document medication dosages and administration times accurately.
  • Monitor residents and report any changes in their health status.
  • Collect samples for medical analysis as required.
  • Ensure that all medical equipment is regularly inspected and maintained.
  • Adhere to all health and safety protocols.
  • Comply with federal, state, and agency regulations to safeguard personal and resident health.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to facilitate resident care and medication management.
  • Follow both written and verbal instructions for medication administration.
  • Respond promptly to resident emergency signals to assess their needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information unless disclosure is necessary for safety and welfare.
  • Seek assistance from nursing staff as needed to ensure safe and effective task performance.
  • Engage in customer service, medication administration, caregiving, resident safety, and effective communication.
Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Completion of a state-approved Medication Aide training program and authorization to assist with or administer oral and topical medications, in accordance with state regulations.
  • Demonstrated competency in medication administration as per state guidelines.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred, though it may be mandatory in certain jurisdictions.
  • Candidates must be at least 18 years old or meet the age requirement set by state regulations.
  • Experience working independently, as part of a team, and managing projects from inception to completion.
  • Strong emotional intelligence and active listening skills.
  • A commitment to the healthcare field, particularly in supporting residents.
  • Successful completion of state and company background checks and drug screening.
  • Ability to take vital signs.
  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
  • Supervise medication administration within the scope of state regulations.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language.
