Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Integrated Pest Management Specialist collaborates closely with the Cultivation Management team, overseeing all activities related to pest control. This role is essential in eliminating and managing unwanted pests with minimal supervision. The Specialist is knowledgeable in appropriate application techniques, including calibration, treatment methods, and the identification of insects, arachnids, and vertebrates.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administering pest management products, including sprays and biological agents.
  • Monitoring all cultivation zones for indications of pests, diseases, and other plant health concerns.
  • Identifying various pests and developing treatment strategies based on their biology.
  • Measuring areas that require treatment and calculating the necessary chemical quantities to address specific pest problems.
  • Operating, maintaining, and repairing equipment as required.
  • Coordinating work order schedules with the Cultivation Management team.
  • Staying informed about practices and all relevant local, state, and federal regulations regarding pest management in agriculture.
  • Ensuring timely submission of all necessary documentation.
  • Implementing quality standards and conducting follow-up inspections.
  • Completing required training to maintain a commercial applicator's license for the Pest category.
  • Maintaining effective communication, both written and verbal, with the Cultivation Management team.
  • Adhering to standard operating procedures for assigned tasks and projects while following all safety protocols.
  • Regularly cleaning cultivation areas to prevent the accumulation of algae and debris.
  • Ensuring the cleanliness of cultivation areas and strict adherence to sanitation protocols.
  • Demonstrating the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
  • Taking on additional projects, tasks, and responsibilities as needed.
  • Maintaining compliance with company standard operating procedures and reporting any changes or updates to management.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in field or greenhouse pest management, or a degree in a related field.
  • Must obtain a State Certified Applicator license in the Pest category within a specified timeframe.
  • Ability to identify various pests and formulate treatment plans based on their biology.
  • Physical capability to perform manual labor tasks essential for managing a commercial cultivation operation.
  • Exhibiting accountability, proactive behavior, and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic, and challenging work environment.
  • Must be of legal age and pass all required pre-employment screenings.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and requirements to ensure facility compliance at all times.
  • Must be able to obtain and retain a Registered Agent Card issued by the state of operation.
  • Ability to internalize training and follow instructions effectively.
  • Must possess clear and effective communication skills.
