The City of Takoma Park is seeking part-time Crossing Guards to ensure safe streets and passage of young residents during before and after school hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage vehicular traffic at designated street crossings to allow students and pedestrians to cross safely;
  • Encourage students to observe and obey traffic regulations at school crossings;
  • Control vehicular traffic to allow school buses safe entry and exit;
  • Report any traffic or other hazards to designated personnel;
  • Provide directions and assistance to motorists;
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Requirements:

  • High school education or equivalent level of knowledge and competency;
  • Ability to complete and pass a full background check;
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time with or without accommodation;
  • Ability to work outside in inclement weather;
  • Availability to work between 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Additional Information:

This is a part-time position, split shift, for 20 hours a week. You must be available for both morning and afternoon posts. The morning hours are 7:30 a.m. to 9:25 a.m. and the afternoon hours are 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., operating on the Montgomery County Public School calendar.

The hourly wage for this position is expected to be between $17.60 and $19.82 and will be offered at a level consistent with the experience and qualifications of the candidate.
