Job Overview

The primary responsibility of the Roll-Off Truck Operator is to deliver prompt, efficient, and safe waste collection services to clients along designated routes.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle.
  2. Familiarize yourself with the geography of the assigned route and adjacent areas.
  3. Service various types of waste bins, including trash, recycling, and compost, utilizing different collection vehicles.
  4. Manage spills and overflows, ensuring bins are returned to their designated locations.
  5. Operate vehicles with a focus on public safety as the top priority.
  6. Utilize in-cab electronic systems to adhere to route and service specifications.
  7. Communicate effectively with dispatch and route supervisors via radio.
  8. Comply with hazardous waste handling and disposal regulations as mandated by local, state, and federal agencies.
  9. Report any accidents, injuries, or maintenance concerns promptly.
  10. Adhere to all relevant safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
  11. Foster a collaborative working relationship with colleagues and clients.
  12. Engage in training sessions to enhance skills and improve service delivery.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Principles related to waste and recycling collection.
  • Basic mechanics and components of trucks.
  • Health and safety regulations applicable to job sites.

Ability to:

  • Maintain a positive demeanor with colleagues and clients.
  • Build trust and credibility through accountability.
  • Contribute positively to team dynamics by promoting inclusion and collaboration.
  • Demonstrate initiative and manage time effectively through multitasking.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely in both verbal and written forms.

  • Utilize on-board electronic routing systems effectively.

Qualifications

  1. Possession of a valid commercial driver's license and DOT medical certification.
  2. A minimum of one year of experience driving refuse trucks is required.
  3. Experience in the resource recovery sector is preferred.
  4. A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
