Position Overview

The HR Operations Specialist plays a crucial role in managing confidential and advanced responsibilities that require extensive knowledge of organizational policies and practices. Key responsibilities include overseeing employee engagement, maintaining personnel records, supporting recruitment and onboarding processes, managing employee benefits, and providing general employee relations assistance.

Core Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the recruitment process for hourly positions through the HRIS, conduct interviews, and leverage various channels to enhance applicant flow.
  • Maintain accurate data and provide weekly updates on staffing metrics.
  • Collaborate with the HR Assistant to ensure compliance during the onboarding process, including training, employment verification, and recordkeeping.
  • Assist in payroll processing for the manufacturing site, including reviewing timecards and addressing pay discrepancies promptly.
  • Partner with the HR Manager to implement disciplinary actions, particularly regarding attendance policies, ensuring compliance and recommending policy adjustments as necessary.
  • Manage HRIS functions, including processing new hires, status changes, terminations, and employee benefits.
  • Support special projects and HR initiatives such as open enrollment, annual salary reviews, and wellness programs.
  • Work closely with the HR Manager on performance evaluations and job assessments to ensure their effectiveness.
  • Coordinate employee engagement activities through the social committee.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse personalities while maintaining positive relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to lead projects to completion using available resources and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Adaptability to changes within the workplace.
  • Proficient computer skills, with a willingness to learn new software applications.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Preferred bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.

Education and Experience

  • Associate's degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in Human Resources.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Familiarity with HR administrative requirements related to OSHA, FMLA, COBRA, STD, AAP, EEO, ADA, Unemployment, and Workers' Compensation.
  • Experience with HRIS systems.
  • Ability to present information effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Capacity to handle confidential or sensitive information responsibly.
  • Accountability for personal performance and that of direct reports, with clear goal-setting and progress tracking.

Minimal travel required (0%-10%).
