Job Title: Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant

VitalCore Health Strategies is seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant to join our team at Carson City Correctional Facility in Michigan.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will utilize the medical model to meet a variety of healthcare needs with ambulatory care as their primary focus in a correctional environment. The ideal candidate will work with a variety of healthcare professionals/security officers to provide basic medical services supervised by a licensed Physician.

Responsibilities:
  • Respond to and initiate care for medical emergencies throughout the facility.
  • Identify patient health problems and prescribe treatment under the direction of a physician.
  • Implement medical care utilizing therapeutic regimens approved by a Physician.
  • Provide education to inmate/patient, healthcare staff, and correctional staff.
  • Document all healthcare contacts.
  • Adhere to safety and security policies and participate in disaster drills. Follow security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications.
  • Delegates to and supervises other team members as appropriate.
  • Adheres to Universal Precautions and other appropriate infection control practices.
  • Attends training and meetings as required.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited college/university NP / PA program
  • Must possess current licenses or certifications in the state of employment
  • Experience in Correctional desired but not required
  • Maintains required annual licensure and credentialing requirements for physician assistants / Nurse Practitioner in the healthcare unit.
