Position Summary: The Neighborhood Engagement Specialist plays a vital role in fostering community ties within designated areas. This position involves acting as a community mobilizer, connecting residents with essential resources and services to enhance neighborhood safety and cohesion. The Specialist will engage in various activities, including outreach, conducting interviews, home visits, needs assessments, and referrals to appropriate services. Establishing trust and rapport with residents is crucial, as is collaborating with the Be Strong On the Block Program Manager and other community partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct door-to-door outreach to engage residents and program participants.
- Coordinate and facilitate Monthly Community Block Meetings and larger community events.
- Complete intake assessments and ensure timely referrals to service providers.
- Maintain a daily log of activities and interactions within the designated areas.
- Monitor residents' progress and ensure the quality of services provided.
- Participate in community engagement events and serve as a primary contact for residents and referral organizations.
- Attend training sessions, workshops, and community forums as required.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field. A minimum of five years of experience working with community organizations and residents is required. Knowledge of social issues and community dynamics is highly recommended. Additional experience in counseling or rehabilitation may substitute for educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
