Position Overview:

As an Adjunct Instructor for the Medical Assistant Program, your main role will be to create and implement educational courses that equip students with the essential skills and knowledge to excel as proficient medical assistants.

Your instruction will encompass both clinical and administrative responsibilities, medical vocabulary, human anatomy and physiology, patient care techniques, and effective communication within healthcare environments.


Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Design:
Develop and revise curriculum materials for medical assistant training, ensuring alignment with industry standards and accreditation guidelines.
Create lesson plans, presentations, and teaching resources to promote effective learning.

Instructional Delivery:

Facilitate lectures, demonstrations, and interactive learning experiences covering medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, disease mechanisms, and pharmacology.

Utilize multimedia tools and visual aids to enrich the educational experience.

Hands-On Clinical Training:

Deliver practical training in clinical procedures, including vital signs assessment, EKG performance, injection administration, minor surgical assistance, and laboratory testing.

Oversee and mentor students as they practice clinical skills in both simulated and actual healthcare settings.

Student Assessment:
Conduct quizzes, examinations, and practical evaluations to assess students' understanding and proficiency in both clinical and administrative tasks.
Offer constructive feedback and support to enhance student performance.

Professional Growth:
Remain informed about the latest trends, practices, and regulations in medical assisting.
Participate in workshops, conferences, and continuing education opportunities to improve teaching effectiveness and maintain expertise in medical assisting skills.

Administrative Skills Instruction:
Teach students about administrative functions such as appointment scheduling, medical record management, billing and coding, and insurance processing.
Introduce students to electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software.

Qualifications:
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential or equivalent certification is required.
Experience in teaching or training within healthcare education is preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Proficiency in clinical and administrative procedures relevant to medical assisting.

Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation is set at $30 per hour.
Includes worker's compensation and a limited part-time retirement plan.
Note: Kilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program, which may affect employees and retirees under specific federal provisions.
