HirefinderRPO is seeking a highly skilled Education Specialist to join our team. As an Education Specialist, you will be responsible for overseeing the educational and developmental needs of children in our care.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement educational enrichment programs for children in care.
- Conduct comprehensive educational and developmental screenings as necessary.
- Maintain daily duties related to the educational and developmental needs of children in care.
- Develop and implement a curriculum for the preschool program, including gross motor, fine motor, and cognitive activities in a child-oriented environment.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualized and group developmental goals for toddlers.
- Participate in ongoing information regarding each child's cognitive and behavioral developmental needs.
- In coordination with the Education Lead, plan and implement preschool enrichment outings.
- Coordinate daily coverage for staff and volunteers regarding participation in the preschool program.
- Provide guidance to Youth Care Workers related to their duties in the preschool classroom.
- Oversee the volunteers assigned to the tutoring program.
- Meet with teachers, maintain appropriate contact with other agency staff and team members, participate and attend IEPs to ensure the success of children in the educational setting.
- Participate in ongoing professional education specifically related to the effects of child abuse and neglect upon children as assigned.
- Maintain records and provide monthly and quarterly tutor statistics as required.
- Facilitate Life Skills classes.
- Coordinate life skills classes for school-age children.
- Keep the Education Lead informed of critical concerns and request assistance as appropriate.
- Model the Center's expectations for sensitivity and competency relating to diversity and cultural awareness.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card or ability to obtain one prior to employment.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Two years' experience working with children in an educational setting.
- Bilingual capabilities preferred.
- Ability to display verbal and written communication skills that meet the requirements of the position and needs of clients.
- Valid driver's license and ability to be added to the Agency's vehicle insurance policy.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
- Computer experience in a Windows environment required.
