Cardiac Sonographer I

Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Cardiac Sonographer I to join our team. As a key member of our cardiovascular department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine echocardiograms, including transthoracic echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms, and stress echocardiograms.

• Perform echocardiograms using different systems of ultrasound equipment, including color, spectral Doppler, and 2-D imaging.
• Locate, evaluate, and record pertinent anatomical, pathological, and functional data.
• Transmit exams to compatible DICOM storage applications and process preliminary technical data in designated interpreting systems.
• Communicate significant findings to attending reading physicians.
• Collaborate with the patient care team to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Provide education to patients regarding the purpose and techniques used during echocardiogram exams.
• Identify and recognize cardiac structures accurately, including calculating valve area, pressure gradients, and ejection fraction.
• Maintain proper sterile techniques for procedures and ensure compliance with infection control procedures.
• Ensure all patient care equipment has had quality control performed as required and is in safe working order prior to use.

• Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s).
• Successful completion of a clinical rotation in a cardiovascular echo sonography program or six months of cardiac sonographer experience.
• BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA) certification.
• RDCS - Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (ARDMS) or equivalent certification.

This position requires availability to be on call and may require travel within the Houston Metropolitan area.
