About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Nursing Assistant to join our team at Mount Sinai Hospital. As a Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care and supporting the Registered Professional Nurse in delivering exceptional patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct Patient Care: Provide personal care and assistance to patients, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Observation and Reporting: Observe and report patient data, behaviors, and responses to treatment to the Registered Professional Nurse.
  • Admission, Transfer, and Discharge: Assist with the admission, transfer, and discharge of patients, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
  • Food and Fluid Intake: Assist patients with eating and drinking, ensuring their nutritional needs are met.
  • Excretion and Hygiene: Assist patients with excretion and hygiene needs, maintaining a clean and comfortable environment.
  • Safe Movement and Transfer: Assist patients with safe movement and transfer, utilizing mechanical devices as necessary.
  • Heat and Cold Applications: Apply heat and cold as needed to promote patient comfort and relaxation.
  • Deceased Patient Care: Provide care and support to deceased patients and their families, ensuring a respectful and compassionate experience.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and clean equipment, ensuring it is in good working order.
  • Errands and Transportation: Assist with errands and transportation, including transporting stat specimens and obtaining supplies.
  • Environmental Maintenance: Maintain a clean, uncluttered, and tidy environment, ensuring patient and staff safety.
  • Aggression Control: Utilize aggression control measures to ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Special Observation: Provide 1:1 observation of patients on special observation status, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Staff Development: Participate in ongoing staff development, maintaining a high level of knowledge and skill.
  • Attendance and Punctuality: Maintain a high level of attendance and punctuality, adhering to departmental standards.
Requirements
  • Experience: Three to nine months of healthcare experience preferred.
  • Certifications: Certificate of Medical Assistant training or equivalent, Heartsaver Certification from American Heart Association and/or BCLS.
