Position Summary

U.S.VETS, the leading nonprofit organization dedicated to serving veterans, is seeking an Intake Specialist for our Inglewood location. This role is essential for those who wish to contribute positively to the lives of veterans. U.S.VETS assists over 5,500 veterans nightly by providing essential services such as housing, counseling, and career support across multiple sites. Our mission focuses on eradicating veteran homelessness through innovative housing solutions and comprehensive support programs aimed at helping veterans transition successfully to civilian life. Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct eligibility screenings and assessments for clients.
  • Assist clients in gathering necessary documentation for program enrollment.
  • Manage the client intake process, including completion of intake packets and data entry for program reporting.
  • Facilitate individual or group orientations for clients.
  • Track client entries and exits in the electronic database.
  • Perform data entry into the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) as needed.
  • Ensure that MyCaseRecords (MCR) documentation is current.
  • Generate client information and program data reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual summaries.
  • Collaborate with Program Coordinators, Case Managers, and Housing/Outreach Specialists for service monitoring and documentation.
  • Maintain archival records of inactive client files.
  • Ensure quality documentation practices are upheld.
  • Provide confidential support to management and staff.
  • Assist in procuring necessary program supplies and office equipment.
  • Communicate program guidelines to clients and community partners.
  • Support monthly follow-up procedures for aftercare.
  • Undertake additional duties and special projects as assigned.
For Intake Specialists assigned to specific programs such as Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) or Grant & Per Diem (GPD) Transitional Housing, additional responsibilities may include:
  • Reporting to the SSVF Team Leader or Coordinator as applicable.
  • Assisting with fund request compilation, payment submissions, and tracking of Temporary Financial Assistance.
Qualifications:

Essential Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in social services or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in social services or a related field is required; experience at U.S.VETS may substitute for this requirement.
  • Experience working with homeless individuals and/or veterans is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet applications.
  • Detail-oriented with effective organizational skills.
  • A valid driver's license is required, along with meeting company insurance criteria and completing a driver training course.
