Job Summary

As a skilled Installation Technician at Manitowoc, you will play a critical role in building vocational trucks through assembly, hydraulic, 12v electrical, and fabrication skills. This exciting opportunity requires strong mechanical aptitude, technical understanding of hydraulics, electrical systems, and primary functions of equipment used in our industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build vocational trucks through assembly, hydraulic, 12v electrical, and fabrication skills
  • Read blueprints, diagrams, and instructions to follow installation procedures and established standards
  • Attend pre-install meetings and accurately read required measuring tools
  • Perform hydraulic, electrical, and fabrication tasks, including hose and fitting assembly, routing, and plumbing, as well as system setup and testing
  • Utilize various power tools, such as drill, impact wrench, air ratchet, grinders, and iron worker, as needed for builds
  • Make recommendations for changes in procedure or job functions that are conceived to be in the general interest
  • Perform other job-related duties assigned by management
Requirements
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical understanding of hydraulics, electrical systems, and primary functions of equipment used in our industry
  • Knowledge of basic hydraulics and 12-volt electrical systems, including wiring stop/start systems and ability to use programmer
  • Knowledge of sizes of fittings and hydraulic hoses
  • Able to operate saw for cutting steel, plasma cutter, and oxygen/acetylene torch
  • Ability to adjust pressures and reliefs
  • Basic math skills and basic welding and fabrication ability
  • Ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • High level of Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to understand fundamentals of mechanical systems as related to the commercial truck industry
  • Technical college degree desired, or structured on-the-job training program successfully completed
  • 2-5 years' experience in field service of heavy equipment is desired
Health & Safety Requirements
  • Perform job functions in a safe manner
  • Wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required by Company policy for the job being performed
  • Know and follow established job-specific and facility-wide safety and health procedures and rules
  • Actively participate in safety and health training and demonstrate competency based on training received
  • Bring safety and health issues, unsafe acts, and safety suggestions to management's attention or correct those you can
  • Have the ability to obtain a DOT card
