Position Overview:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in delivering direct nursing care to patients across various settings, including private residences, healthcare facilities, and community clinics. This position is regulated by state and federal laws as well as institutional policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor patients' health by assessing vital signs, tracking intake and output, and responding to patient requests for assistance.
  • Provide essential nursing care, which includes managing colostomies and tracheotomies, preparing medications, and performing various medical procedures as instructed.
  • Document and administer medications, noting any changes in patients' conditions, responses to treatments, and daily activities.
  • Instruct patients and their families on managing medical needs, including catheter care, insulin administration, and personal hygiene.
  • Assist physicians in clinical settings by gathering patient information, aiding in medical procedures, and transcribing orders.
  • Communicate daily patient updates to the incoming shift, including progress and any new directives.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Work Environment:
This role may require working varying shifts, including nights and weekends, and may involve physical tasks such as lifting and positioning patients.

Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a diploma or certificate from a state-approved practical nursing program. Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the appropriate state board is mandatory. Additional qualifications may be required as determined by the hiring agency.
