This position demands physical capabilities typical of roles in powerline construction.
Team members will regularly need to communicate effectively, stand, walk, use hands for various tasks, and reach with arms.
Physical labor is a significant aspect of this role, including climbing structures and lifting weights exceeding 50 lbs. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
Team members may encounter fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations. They will also be exposed to various weather conditions and loud noise levels typical of construction sites.
General Expectations:
- Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License permit within a specified timeframe
- Capability to operate heavy machinery used in powerline projects
- Effective communication skills
- Willingness to travel and work in different locations as required
- Ability to lift heavy objects
- Flexibility to work overtime when necessary
- Conducting safe construction, maintenance, or repair work on energized and de-energized overhead systems
- Inspecting rubber goods and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Understanding the appropriate use of personal protective equipment
- Stringing overhead wire and setting poles
- Assisting with the installation of transformers and other equipment
- Replacing fuses and clearing faulted circuits
- Working with high voltage systems while ensuring safety
- Maintaining tools and equipment in good condition
- Possessing knowledge of rigging and knot tying
- Identifying primary and secondary voltage on circuits
- Understanding excavation and shoring requirements
- Performing other related duties as necessary
